CI Basketball 22/23 Season Review
The 2022-23 season was certainly one to remember for the CI men’s varsity basketball team. In addition to being crowned as champions of the Korea Classic, the boys pulled off many dramatic victories during the regular season, cementing their reputation as one of the most clutch teams in KAIAC.
The Belle of the Ball was Chris Kang, who averaged 30.2 points per game.
What was it like playing in the Korea classic, and was there a personal significance to the tournament?
CK: Historically, we have never beaten SFS in a game, but in the first few qualifier games, we had a few close games against SFS. I didn’t view the games as optimistic beforehand, but afterwards, my outlook on the season changed altogether. SFS is traditionally a strong team, with great fundamentals and amazing depth of squad.
During the final game, we were behind by 16-18 points. Ultimately our team was able to make up for this difference with all our promised games coming in clutch. During the final quarter, our seniors stepped up and we were able to get the victory.
Chadwick has had great teams in the past, including Brian Han and other stars. However, this year was especially memorable for me because I was the star of the team. I was emphatic to see our coaches smile, as I viewed them as players outside of the court, and they were great mentors during the season.
