You open your eyes to the sunlight in your room, realizing yesterday is done, and a new day arises. Yet, you despise what’s about to come, for you already know everything that will happen. It feels like a dream, an imaginary place that loops the same day all over again; but you open your eyes and see that it is in fact, reality. All of us have been there at some point, either feeling dreadful seeing nothing to look forward to, or maybe even the dullness of our lives. It is common for us to feel this way, as some of us may lack ecstasy in our lives; and that’s perfectly normal. But, finding your passion and having something to look forward to each day can vastly benefit our lives, and help rid the dullness we feel each day.
Discovering your passion can be difficult, and not everyone finds it easy to uncover. However, that doesn’t mean that we will never find a passion. In our lives, it all starts with one step. One change that has the potential to dictate our lives, and indicate where we are headed. It may be overwhelming, and difficult to focus on something that has so much power. But, through this journey, the potential you hold is greater than you could ever imagine.
Let’s start off by asking ourselves one question. “What is one thing I love doing?” Take a moment if you’d like, and think about the things that excite you. And remember, passions are things you genuinely enjoy doing. These things could be as simple as sports, learning new instruments, cooking, or even something outrageous like skydiving. My point is, a simple question like this can easily help narrow down your interests. Passions could be altered in many different ways; you may fall into the trap of comparing yourself to others; but you have to realize that what your friends are passionate about doesn’t have to be your passion either. Finding your passion is difficult, yet fulfilling the accomplishments your friends do doesn’t make it a genuine passion, and eradicates the point of finding your passion.
One method that can help you find new interests could be trying new things. Maybe you’ve always been playing basketball, and have never thought about other sports such as volleyball. If you’ve ever thought of sports, our school community opens tryouts to anyone, meaning you could try out for any sport you feel your interest in. Our school can also help you try new things such as instruments and whatnot, as our school consists of various subjects. So maybe you’re interested in writing, our school has clubs to aid that, especially journalism which allows people to write articles whilst connecting with others. Trying new things can have a large impact on finding your passions, as it allows you to make new friends, and experience new things you may end up enjoying.
To conclude, remember that you are not alone when trying to find a passion, as numerous people struggle with finding their passion. Passion comes naturally to everyone, and not everyone may have a passion. But maybe you already have one; maybe you’re extremely good at cooking but just don’t know it yet. This life has endless possibilities, but rather than sitting down and not doing anything, it’s better to try and figure out what your passions could be. So, the next time an opportunity strikes you, just take it; cause who knows, you may never get that chance again.
