Winter season came to an end and numerous athletes prepared for the Spring season. During the last week of February, a handful of athletes participated in the Spring season tryouts, which offer soccer, badminton, and track. This was an open opportunity for every Upper-school student to experience the spirit of each team.
The soccer department prepared its season beforehand, holding pre-season practices throughout the week. During tryout week, multiple athletes across grade levels had a chance to take risks and participate in athletics. Around twenty athletes were picked for each varsity boys’ and girls’ team, an opportunity to represent our school in future KAIAC tournaments and matches with other schools.
Likewise, the badminton department held an open gym session for players in order to prepare for the season beforehand. Throughout the week, they welcomed players in all grade levels, offering them the needed equipment and space. As tryout week arrived, many students were seen playing badminton in their leisure time, showing their passion ahead of the season. Around twelve athletes were picked for each girls’ and boys’ team, involving all grade levels from 9-12 to represent our school in future tournaments.
Lastly, the track department also had a pre-season where players were able to bond with each other and prepare themselves for the season. The athletes had an opportunity to try different track categories, gaining a sneak peek of the actual spring season.
