We students spend an average of 9 hours a day at school, so we must make sure that school should be a healthy environment for kids to grow. Environmental change can highly affect a student’s ability to perform well at school. Research shows kids in schools that have less pollution and have better ecosystems, are more likely to score higher than a 70 percentile on a test. To ensure a better environment for students to learn in. The journalism exploratory researched more about our school and how to take action against pollution.
- Air Pollution:
You may have noticed some things about the school lately because of pollution. Students are staying indoors more frequently because of bad air. While we can’t really do anything to reduce air pollution during school hours, there are some things we can do to take a bit of action. A lot of air pollution actually comes from typically all types of pollution. For example, to reduce air pollution, Try to use less air conditioning during the fall, spring, and winter seasons. We can also typically stop air pollution by melting plastic using hot glue during projects. Like this, we can take simple action together to impact the environment.
- Land Pollution
There are lots of different types of pollution but one of them is land pollution. Land pollution occurs when trash, compost, and other toxins are dumped on the land. I see this currently happening in the school environment, chip bags, and empty water bottles thrown on the ground. Land pollution is actually the most impactful out of all the pollutants, and because of this, land pollution is very common. We should take action by actually putting them into recycled bags that are provided in the school hallways, and recycling undamaged packaging. There are many more ways to reduce land pollution than this, which could take lots of actions for the environment.
- Survey
Here is the survey response regarding some environmental problems in CI:
Q: What do you think is an appropriate way to take action on these problems?
A: ‘One effective way to take action on air pollution is to reduce carbon footprint. This can be done by walking, biking, or taking public transportation instead of driving alone. Additionally, you can conserve energy by turning off lights and electronics when not in use, and using energy-efficient appliances. It’s also important to support policies and regulations that aim to reduce air pollution, such as carbon taxes and emissions regulations. By taking these steps, we can all do our part to improve air quality and protect our health and the environment.’
